We've all seen such sentiments from virtually all platforms, hell, even the local supermarket is handing out fliers for people to learn Data science from emerging bootcamps. But what really is it? What is all the fuss about?

Well, dive in to the most unhinged article ever!!

Data science? What is it?

Data science is a multidisciplinary field that uses scientific methods, processes, algorithms and systems to extract vital insights from data.

The Data is sometimes structured or unstructured depending on the job problem at hand.

The questions that beg here are:

Why is it multidisciplinary?

What are some of the said processes?

Data science as a multidisciplinary field.

It is considered so because it draws knowledge from a wide range of disciplines to effectively analyze and interpret data.

Here's why;

Statistical methods form the backbone of data analysis, some concepts drawn are; hypothesis testing ,probability and regression analysis.

Data science relies heavily on programming language and tools (python,R,Skala,SQL,Jva) to manipulate, clean and visualize data especially in very large data sets.

Machine leaning is an essential part of Data science since some of its models are deployed to build predictive models and uncover patters within data.

You can get more information on why Data science is a multidisciplinary field here:

How is Data science integrated into the modern world you ask?

Data science is used in healthcare for analysis of patient records, diagnosis of diseases and recommendation of medicine for patients based on expert systems and genetic mutations.

Finance also heavily relies on Data science for fraud detection on credit cards, risk management strategies based on large scale data analysis.

Data science is used in recommender systems, demand forecasting and optimization for customers in big tech giants like Amazon, Netflix and Spotify.

There are also some other ways that Data Science is used:

https://youtu.be/KdgQvgE3ji4?si=NNQMdXqSNz_RF0Fp

Sounds interesting right? How then, do you learn Data science?

While there are many sources you can employ to learn data science; it can be very frustrating to pin point the exact resources you need. This is very common especially when breaking into tech, metaphorically 'Tutorial hell'. Witty right?

Personally I've been stuck in that never ending loop and the best way to unweave yourself is to look at the already available roadmaps and then customize it to your preference, one of the websites that really helped me was https://roadmap.sh/ , here I was able to filter out the essential skills I needed then worked myself to it.

Tip: Pique at you interest. Start now!!
